Principle 8 of the URI Charter encourages the practice of equitable participation of women and men in all aspects of the URI. The Great Lakes Region is a region that has been prone to conflict for such a long time. With conflict both at domestic and community levels, women face a lot of injustices. URI-GL therefore works with the different local and global initiatives to ensure that member organizations commit to addressing area specific needs that affect woman and girls in their locations.
