Building a coordinated, networked and collaborative Civil….

This project is aimed at having a well-coordinated platform for collaboration, learning, networking, for PCVE focused CSOs in Uganda. As a network organization, URI is one of the founders of the current Civil Society Coalition Against Violent Extremism (CiSCAVE) in Uganda and also hosts it.  In this position and in its own prime as a network, it has been able to mobilize, interest and work with different organizations and government security organisations to address issues of VE. URI also chairs the IGAD CSO network which decided to merge with the youth network and set up a membership driven and independent Coalition of CSOs focusing on PCVE.  In pushing this agenda forward, we partner with different government departments dealing with PCVE and hence contributed to the current PCVE National Policy. We have also managed to map out CSOs involved in PCVE work for different regional and global partnerships. Our information sharing with global staff members from Nigeria on Boko Haram, Djibouti with Alshabab, in Mozambique, Philippines, Afghanistan and Jordan has therefore given us great learnings in the global dynamics of VE and how that translates in our local efforts.  Locally, we have also conducted various intrafaith dialogue meetings with key VE returnees including implementation of rehabilitation and reintegration programs for violent extremist offenders (VEOs).
